Kaizad Panthaki

Director & Choreographer

Kaizad fell in to the field of dancing and performing arts by chance. He started dancing to encourage and support his sister (in what was then a very conservative society) and joined Shiamak Daver’s Institute of Performing Arts, in Mumbai, India, in 1992. He was primarily trained in jazz and funk styles and later on in Kuchupudi (Indian classical dance) in Sydney. While he had his heart set on dancing he had to move away from Mumbai to finish his engineering degree. Whilst there, he continued to dance through his engineering days and lead an all boys group to perform and win at various inter-collegiate dance festivals and competitions including a national competition at Bangalore in 1996.

He continued to perform with Shiamak Daver’s troupe as and when he got a chance and some of the highlights included Filmfare Awards 1994, 100 years of Indian Cinema Awards 1995, and ‘Dil to Pagal Hai’ 1997.

Once in Sydney he continued his dance training through casual dance classes at Sydney Dance Company. He performed Bollywood dance shows with various groups and some of the big corporate events included Macquarie Bank, Clayton Utz, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Gaden Lawyers, Mitsubishi Awards, Thai Airways, KPMG, Ernst & Young, Cure For Life, Sydney Film Festival, Inspirations Management, Fundraiser Event for Mardi Gras 2006, MTV Awards 2008, Miss India Australia 2006, Heyy Babyy Premiere.

Having trained and experienced first hand bollywood dance training in the heart of Mumbai, Kaizad and Khursheed formed their own group “Bollywood Sensations” in 2007 to explore and reinvent the various styles within bollywood in Australia
